Where it started
Twenty years of behavioural science, met a Saturday morning on the sidelines.
Kylie Ellwood was a sports parent first. Coaching and supporting her own daughter through club sport, she watched talented kids hit a ceiling that had nothing to do with talent, and volunteer coaches doing their best without the tools to help. Through her work as one of only two Extended DISC Master Trainers in Australia, she met Jukka Sappinen, founder of Extended DISC International, and together they saw what the Sports Competence Assessment could do for exactly those athletes and coaches.
Natasha Coughlan came at it from the other side: years spent coaching and supporting athletes through the pressure of high performance, the scholarship pathway, and the everyday wellbeing challenges that decide whether talent lasts. Two different doors into the same belief, and the same frustration with tools that hand over a profile and stop.
Athlete Insights is what they built instead: measure how an athlete is wired, measure what they have actually developed, show the gap, and coach it. Human support around real data, for the athletes and the coaches who back them.
The founders
Kylie the architect and certifier. Natasha the practitioner and connector.
Kylie Ellwood
The architect and certifier
One of only two Extended DISC Master Trainers in Australia and a FinxS Master Trainer. Kylie owns the Sports Competence methodology, built in partnership with Jukka Sappinen of Extended DISC International, and is in discussion for a Global Master Trainer role for Sports Competence. She speaks on the science and the system: the 18 competences, the gap methodology, and certification standards.
Natasha Coughlan
The practitioner and connector
A sport performance and wellbeing coach, certified World Rugby coach and referee, with a decade supporting elite athletes and experience of the US scholarship pathway. A proud First Nations woman, Natasha speaks on the athlete and the journey: wellbeing, pressure, girls in sport, and building pathways that reach the athletes who need them.
The founders build the trust, but the brand stands on its own. Athlete Insights is designed to work whoever is in the room, so clubs, coaches and athletes back the system, not a personality.
